We are a family-oriented archery club, and children are welcome. Whatever your
archery style or skill level, Coeur d'Alene Bowmen has a place for you in our archery
family. CDA Bowmen was established in 1955 and is chartered by the Idaho State
Bowhunters Association (ISB). Our membership includes bow hunters, as well as
target and recreational shooters. We promote and stimulate interest in all phases of
archery and cooperate with other organizations such as the ISB (ID State Bowhunters),
IFAA (ID Field Archery Assn), NFAA (National Field Archery Assn) and the
Department of Fish and Game to improve archery season, hunting, and outdoor life in
the State of Idaho. Over the years many of our members have acted as archery
instructors for the Fish & Game.
The Bowmen hold monthly club meetings to discuss upcoming and current archery
events, exchange hunting stories, and socialize with other archery enthusiasts. The club
also encourages family participation in different club functions. To further enhance this,
we hold various activities throughout the year.
Our activities include three to four 3-D shoots a year; a "Snow Shoot", "Spring Shoot"
and a "Fall Warm-up". We usually have 250-600 shooters at these events, from all over
the Pacific Northwest. During the winter months, usually January through March, we
hold an indoor Winter League, for those who want to maintain and improve their skills
and enjoy some friendly competition. Members also enjoy our Outdoor Archery Range
over spring and summer.
To round out the year, we hold an Annual Awards Dinner in the spring. All members and
families are invited. Big Game Awards are awarded to those who successfully harvested
a big game animal. Each year the hunter who takes the most animals during the season,
and the hunter who takes the most outstanding animal have their names added to the
club's trophy. Trophies and awards are presented to Winter League top competitors, not
to mention the door prizes donated by our many sponsors.
Benefits of Membership
Include: Indoor range of 3 mo. over winter, outdoor range with varied distances over
summer, a $5 discount to adult members of their 3-D shoot fees (3 times a year),
community support by providing archery instruction to organizations such as:
Boyscouts, Coeur d'Alene Parks & Rec., "Unplugged & Outdoors" an annual event held
each spring break for kids interested in trying the sport. These events are all manned by
Bowmen volunteers with many of our younger archers helping as well. If this sounds
like something you and your family would like to participate in, let us hear from you.
